The following organizations have contact information for many stars, both modern and classic, and their agents, and although most do not give out this information freely to just anyone, in certain circumstances they can help you find a star. 

• Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences --a professional honorary organization composed of over 6,000 motion picture artists and artisans and best known for presenting the Oscars every year.
• The Screen Actors Guild --the official union representing Hollywood film and television actors has contact information for almost everyone they represent, although they don't give it out to just anyone.  They can frequently put you in contact with an actor's agent or representative however.  See the SAG Directory for more information.
• Directors Guild of America --represents directors of feature films, documentaries, television shows, commercials and theatrical productions.
• Dramatists Guild of America --represents playwrights, composers and lyricists with an online directory of members' email addresses and agents. 
• Writers Guild of America --the union which represents writers in the motion picture, broadcast, cable and new technologies industries.
• Actors' Equity Association --the labor union representing actors and stage managers in the legitimate theatre in the United States.
• American Guild of Variety Artists --represents performers in Broadway, Off-Broadway and cabaret productions as well as night club entertainers and theme park performers.
• American Federation of Television and Radio Artists --represents U.S. radio and television performers.
• American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers --a membership association of over 80,000 composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers which keeps track of these people and makes sure they're getting their royalty payments; thus, it also represents the estates of some deceased celebrities.
• William Morris Agency --a talent agency representing all kinds of celebrities, including many classic stars, which can put you in contact with the agents of the stars it represents.
• Creative Artists Agency --a talent agency representing many modern and classic stars which can put you in contact with the agents of the stars it represents.
• International Creative Management --another of the Big 3 talent agencies representing many modern and classic stars which can put you in contact with the agents of the stars it represents.
• International Management Group --yet another large talent agency which can put you in contact with the agents of the stars it represents.
