In GASLIGHT (1944) with Charles Boyer. Bergman won her first Best Actress Oscar for her performance as Paula Alquist in this film which also starred Joseph Cotten, Angela Lansbury and Dame May Whitty. This English mystery-thriller directed by George Cukor received seven Academy Award nominations including Best Picture.

Ingrid played Sister Benedict in THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S, and earned an Oscar nomination for the role. Though she didn't win, this nomination was the third of Bergman's career six Best Actress nominations and her third year in a row to be nominated. 

Giving boxing lessons to Eddie (Richard Tyler) in THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S (1945). This fun film about a convent and church school scraping and praying to make ends meet also stars Bing Crosby, Rhys Williams, and Henry Travers. Besides Bergman's Best Actress nomination, the film was nominated for seven more Oscars including Best Picture. It was also the sequel to the Best Picture of 1945, GOING MY WAY, again with Crosby.
