Boyer. Bergman won her first Best Actress Oscar for her performance
as Paula Alquist in this film which also starred Joseph
Cotten, Angela Lansbury and
Dame May Whitty. This English mystery-thriller
directed by George Cukor
received seven Academy Award nominations including Best Picture.
Ingrid played Sister Benedict in THE BELLS OF ST.
MARY'S, and earned an Oscar nomination for the role. Though she didn't
win, this nomination was the third of Bergman's career six Best Actress
nominations and her third year in a row to be nominated.
