In 2002 and 2003, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences celebrated its 75th anniversary by holding special screenings of all the Oscar-winning Best Pictures, including WEST SIDE STORY (1961) in 2003.

Walter Mirisch (the producer), Rita Moreno (Anita), Russ Tamblyn (Riff), George Chakiris (Bernardo) and Robert Wise (seated, the co-director).
