NOTE: CASABLANCA was first released on Thanksgiving
Day (November 26) 1942 at the Hollywood Theatre in New York. This rush release
was made to take advantage of the publicity from the Allied landing at
Casablanca only three weeks before. The movie was not issued for general release
across the country until January 23, 1943 however, and because a film's qualification
for the Academy Awards depends on the year in which it is commercially released in
Los Angeles County, California, CASABLANCA's Academy Awards were earned
at the 1944 ceremony honoring the films of 1943.
