A poster from one of my favorite films, the movie that beat
CITIZEN KANE (among others) to be named Best Picture of 1941, John
Ford's HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY.
Crisp won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Gwilym Morgan
in this film-- the only time he would be so honored. The picture itself
received five of the ten Academy Awards for which it was nominated. This
masterpiece also stars Maureen
O'Hara, Walter Pidgeon, Rhys
Williams, and Roddy McDowall. Incidentally,
the novel of the same name by Richard Llewellyn is well worth the read.
