John Ford

Awards | HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY | THE QUIET MAN

A portrait from his younger days, and the famous patch later in life. Ford is the most decorated director in Oscar history. He took home four Academy Awards for Best Director during his career.

A poster from one of my favorite films, HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY, the Best Picture of 1941. Ford also took home the third of his four Best Director Oscars for this masterpiece starring Walter Pidgeon and Maureen O'Hara with Donald Crisp, Sara Allgood, Anna Lee, Roddy McDowall and Rhys Williams.

Posters from MY DARLING CLEMENTINE (1946) and THE GRAPES OF WRATH (1940), both with Henry Fonda. Ford won the 1940 Best Director Academy Award (his second) for THE GRAPES OF WRATH.
