Hollywood Classics Ranked: 'Citizen Kane' elected all-time greatest film

The American Film Institute's list of the top 100 American motion pictures was announced Tuesday on a special CBS presentation, AFI's 100 Years. . . 100 Movies.

The selection was made by more than 1,500 members of the film industry, including screenwriters, directors, actors, editors, cinematographers, executives and historians.

AFI archivists had complied a list of 400 American films produced before 1997. Voters selected features from the eligibility list, with one write-in vote allowed.
